WCAG Compliance Report

Methodology

This report summarizes the compliance of the OpenTeleRehab system to 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level A) standards along with the following additional items from the Guidelines for mobile accessibility (2015 Draft): 

• 2.2 Zoom/Magnification - covered in 1.4.4 Resize text of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level AA) 

• 3.1 Keyboard Control for Touchscreen Devices - covered in 2.1.1, 2.1.2, and 2.4.3 of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level A) and 2.4.7 Focus Visible of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level AA)

• 3.3 Touchscreen Gestures - covered in 2.5.2 of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level A)

• 3.4 Device Manipulation Gestures - covered in 2.1.1 of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level A)

• 4.6 Provide instructions for custom touchscreen and device manipulation gestures - covered in 3.3.2 of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level A) and 3.3.5 of 2018 WCAG 2.1 (Level AAA)

• 5.3 Support the characteristic properties of the platform (larger fonts options)

The following practical best practices items from Guidelines for mobile accessibility (2015 Draft) are included without compliance and are only noted as attention points.

• 3.5 Placing buttons where they are easy to access

Test Approach

Testing for WCAG Compliance was done using the following:

For the Admin and Therapist Portal

• The WAVE accessibility tool from https://wave.webaim.org/ (specifically, the Chrome plugin)

• Manual keyboard navigation

For the Patient Mobile App

• The Google accessibility scanner 

• Google accessibility screen reader (built in to Android)

The following items are covered when testing the mobile app and were included in this report:

• Screen reader testing. Ensure that the app works with the built in Android screen reader.

• Zooming the site/application: this is important to a user with poor sight and those that may have difficulty moving their fingers to select a button. E.g. a larger button is easier to select. 

• Readability of the site: make sure the text is not overly complicated and easy to understand. Also make sure the text is easy to read, especially if the background is an image and/or using gradients. 

• Navigation: make sure navigating the site or application is consistent, logical, structured, descriptive and not over complicated.

• Ability to use a keyboard for data entry
